Andy brought these pictures home to show the peavey he used to roll the logs.
And that he had to cut the tree into smaller pieces when he got down towards the base. The pieces weren’t round so they didn’t roll as easily.
Here are what the logs looked like off the road.

those are huge. I’d think they might need to moved by the buddy system!
Andy was surprised that no one has offered to help, but one of the fellows did thank Andy for doing it.
They are so large! I never heard the word “peavey” before, and had to look it up. So I learned something new!
I looked it up too. 😀
That peavey looks like it could also be used as a lethal weapon. At the risk of repeating myself, that sure looks like hard work.
It is. 🙂
it is hard to believe someone did not offer to help, our world is not and never will be the same.. i too looked up peavey, my first time hearing the word.. that is a lot of wood. can that type wood be burned it it was cut up?
Not many people use that part of the road, and the one fellow who lives up there may be on vacation?
I guess the forest service clean-up is out of the question…private road?!!??
That part of the road isn’t private but it’s not used by many people so it wouldn’t be high priority.
Clever man! Is there not a market for firewood? … or, simply too labor intensive?
Some people come up and cut firewood. There is no lack of dead trees. 🙂
That looks like a lot of work to me….
It was. 🙂
awesome work Andy – but I wish there was someone younger who would volunteer to check the roads around and deal with these kinds of things…
Very few people besides us use that road. We have a young full-time neighbor who helps with some things. I asked Andy if the road would be drivable if he hadn’t worked on those fallen trees. He said it would be now but they would be a real nuisance if we get much snow. So I think Andy is planning ahead.
