That was the subject line of an email Kaitlin sent this morning. The message included this photo.
Ordinarily a message like this would mean they’re on a long car trip to visit us, but this time they’re not coming here. Kaitlin has a new job in California and they’re driving across the country to stay for the next few years. This is the new adventure Tempi mentioned at the end of her last post.
They will be renting rather than buying because they will be keeping their home in Massachusetts so they can eventually return to it. Moving is a big hassle, of course, especially around the holidays in the midst of a pandemic, but the job promises to be more than worth the effort.
Hurray for them! And fingers crossed for us all. There are never any guarantees in life so it’s best to have a sense of adventure.
Andy and I are so glad we visited them this past fall. We too love that place and are grateful we had a chance to see it.

Oh and they’ll be so much closer now. At least for the nonce.
Yes, a lot closer than Massachusetts. š
What an exciting big advebture! I hope it works out well.
Thanks. I’m guessing it will. š
Iām so happy to read that they will be closer to you!
xoxoxo
Me too! Thanks. š
oh that’s grand news – but also hectic for every one concerned – and a thrill that an adventure in the NY is what lots of people look forward to – I never sure of distances from places in the states but it looks from the comments, they will closer to you…
Catherine who lives in a country which when squished up together would fit nicely in the state of Colorado š
Great description of NZ. š
someone sleeping in the sun doesn’t seem to mind a long trip. I wonder what they will think when they see the new home.. I wish them much luck and am super glad they are keeping that lovely homestead. hope they are not going to San Francisco, the mayor has been on TV all week,
No, not San Francisco. It’s down the peninsula from there.
Wow, that’s some adventure. I was kind of hoping it meant they were coming to visit you though.
Thank goodness for email and phone calls. We stay close even when they’re not here. š
I hope the job is even better than it sounds. I do feel fir them with moving at this time of year.
Thanks. š
Sounds like they’ll be closer to visit? Love how contented that dog looks with traveling.
Tempi is a good traveler. Zoe is high energy and has some problems with not being able to run.
Well, good luck in all they do!!
Thanks. š
it’s wonderful to be open to new Adventures!
Tempi made me smile so big. she’s resting up for this one! XOXO
She knows how to make herself comfortable. š
How exciting! I remember a time — doesn’t seem that long ago — (when) I was always up for a long road trip. Wishing them safe travels and good times!
Thanks. š
I hope all goes well for them. I’m not sure I would want to deal with the mischievous Tempi when she wakes up still confined to a car. š
She’s a good traveler, but five days of riding in a car must be hard. Even more so for high-energy Zoe.
