Can You Relate to That?

In a comment to yesterday’s post Anni said,

I personally live up to my own philosophy…”there is a right way, a wrong way, and MY way.” What makes me happy is best. No other words spoken by others leads me.

Can you relate to that? I don’t think there’s necessarily a right way, wrong way, and my way. I think we’re all different and have to figure out what our lives are about, what makes it worthwhile, and what makes us happy. I agree with the person who once wrote,

Happiness is self-knowledge and relationships.

A part of self-knowledge to me is knowing what makes me happy, including what things I need to do because of my values, even if I don’t enjoying doing them. In the long run I wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t do them.

What do you think? Thanks for the food for thought, Anni!

  1. I have a tendency to weigh up things – and then decide if I should adopt “right or left” – or should I find another way, And yes we are all individuals…

And like you CM I have a number of things I don’t enjoy but do have to do them to basically keep the home fires burning – both personal and home….

I believe that happiness comes and goes in life, because we all have so many ups and downs. Yes, knowing who we are and what we want can make us confident, too.

I think we can do some things to decouple our happiness from the external ups and downs, but I know a lot of people would disagree.

  3. Ann Thompson says:

I think that depending on the situation, there can be a right way and a wrong way. In the grand scheme of things though, right, wrong, or my way makes sense. Not everything works for everyone so choosing your own way and making yourself happy is essential.

I agree with Annie and am one to lean towards my way, but not if it is wrong. I do believe in wrong and right, morally, i think doing my way is the best for me but not if it breaks the law. Laws would be useless and I obey them even if I don’t always agree with them. the world would be even worse than it is if everyone did only their way..

I think your philosophy is spot-on. Realizing what makes you happy — but at the same time, acknowledging and doing your ‘homework’ in order to succeed at the next level.
Now, all of a sudden, I’m feeling the tug to sing, “Windmills of Your Mind.” (*grin*)
