Ah! There is nothing like staying home for real comfort.
–βJane Austen
In these COVID times I’m not sure everyone would agree with Austen, but Andy and I haven’t been affected much by the restrictions. We’re happy with our quiet life.
I do have to add, though, our trip to Massachusetts to visit Kaitlin, Torben, and the pups was one of the highlights of my life. We’re grateful the booster shots came along at the right time so we could chance the air travel.
What about you?

I like being at home, and only going out occasionally. And staying home is even better in the deep midwinter!
Amen to that! π
I’m hearing that booster shots are not stopping the invasive omicron variant, but with ‘cold’ like symptoms for those vaxxed.
Yes…I enjoyed going along on your trip too!!!
Thanks. π
I love my life. I’m a very happy hermit camper!
and I’m also glad you got to go to Carlisle!
it’s so beautiful. and steeped in history.
well… if you really think about it… Everywhere is “steeped in history!”

Yes. π
I too enjoy being at home. I led a very busy and very active life most of my life. It is nice now not to have to rush here and there and to enjoy simpler days.
Yes. π
I was just thinking about “home” this evening, after I finally went out someplace different with my niece to visit with my great nephew and his wife and young daughter. Dinner cooked by some one else…
I did cope, had a few anxious moments which of course my niece noticed. But I don’t think the others did…
But I’ve not been anywhere that has to do with the old normal life for near on a year! Certainly not to someones’ home…the odd cafe adventure but even that’s been on hold for months!
I do miss drifting around town…and going to different suburbs, Malls, buildings of fun, the ferry/train or bus. But now even the thought of “going” is a minefield of anxieties.
A lot of people feel anxious when it’s finally time to get out a bit. Baby steps when the time comes.
I pretty much live my life on a loop between home and work. I suppose pre covid I may have gone places a little more often but not that much.
It’s nice to love our home and not depend on getting out.
Bob and I are both homebodies to the bone. we have never liked to travel and prefer sleeping in our own beds. so Covid has not messed with us as much as people who like to travel. it has messed with me in that I miss chatting with strangers in public spaces and seeing their faces while I chat… we gave up vacaitons in 2005 when we ended up the parents of 3 large dogs. did not matter, we live in paradise and can do lots of things without leaving town. bob never has and never will do fun things. but there is not a public place or museum or historical place, park or preserve within 20 miles that i have not been to many times. there are so many parks preserves we could go once a day for a month
That’s a great place to be!
Absolutely. My favorite place to be is at home. I’m eternally grateful to be retired and doing life in small-town America.
We’re grateful too! π
If I gave you the full answer you would think I was giving opposing view points. It really changed our life at first. The positive side was I did not have to out to breakfast every morn But a real negative of that is I feel like Roger got a lot less exercise. I am not one for crowds…but I do like to get out for drives. A couple places I really like to go is to view birds. We could still go, but for a while the bathrooms were closed, so that put a stop to going.
I enjoy being at home….always have. Never was much of one for crowds…but did like seeing the kids and we never stopped visiting with them.
From what you’ve written before it was a lot harder on Roger than on you, except for the drives and picture taking.
I agree with Jane Austen. It can be fun going out and meeting other people, but yes, for real comfort there’s nothing like our own home with all our favourite things around us. But then, like you we haven’t been much bothered by the covid restrictions as we’ve been happily pottering around the house ever since we retired.
We’re lucky like you and Jenny are. π
We have been staying home except for seeing our son, daughter in law and James. My daughter and son in law in Montana both have covid right now. He is pretty sick and our daughter is basically tired and achy. He is a nurse and he did get it from a patient. It’s kind of scary out there. Our son and DIL are in Mexico right now. We are watching James. When they come home I will be wearing a mask!!
I’m glad you have a chance to spend time with James. Apparently the number of cases is going way up in town. It used to be we were a lot lower than the rest of New Mexico. I have to decide if I will go ahead and get my eyes checked Thursday…my annual was supposed to be September, but this was the first date they could fit me in.
