Trees in the Orchard

The trees in the orchard are doing fine.

It looks as if they will produce a couple of cherries

and maybe a handful of apples:

But the critters will probably get them if they ripen. Our stepladder and nets burned in the fire.

And there isn’t enough fruit to warrant protecting them this year.

There are a few more pictures here on Flickr.

They look very healthy! But the poor ladder & nets.

  2. The OP Pack says:

That’s what next year is for:). Hope the fruit ripens and you can enjoy it.

  3. next year the trees will be laden and by then your new ladder/nets will be ready to deal to the critters 🙂 but great that the trees survived…

  4. Ann Thompson says:

Glad the trees survived even if the ladder and nets didn’t. They look nice and healthy.

  5. Rose says:

I hope you get to eat a few of them at least!

  6. MadSnapper says:

It is sad the fire took the nets/ladder but happy the trees are alive. fruit trees do not like extreme heat with out lots of water. I know you will miss the cherries and apples. nothing like fresh picked fruit. Andy has to fight the weather and the wild life and does a great job of it

  7. I’m so happy to hear the trees survived and appear to be thriving. Perhaps after the trauma the critters endured in the fire, they deserve a little forbidden fruit?

    • Jean says:

What about all the work Andy has done all these years? 😀 Anyway, the critters are welcome to the fruit this year, we’re happy the trees are still thriving.

  8. A few are better than none. The trees want to live.

    • Jean says:

The trees are the important thing. We lost the ones in the old greenhouse area and Andy probably won’t replace them.
