This picture was taken in 1980, over a half lifetime ago. I had forgotten all about it, but it pops up from time to time in Daily Memories when I use my Amazon fire stick for streaming. Bless snapshots to remind us how rich our lives have been.
When all the trees burned in 2011 we had to decide whether to rebuild here or to go somewhere else. We had too many family memories connected with the land to leave. So we stayed and built new memories to go with the old.

some of your rebuilding is quite new, take the greenhouse…had that been in the past for a dream…maybe yes. But would it have turned out like it has.
as for sawing up a tree…that is probably going to be a forever memory…and interesting to remember “back then”
🙂
Stirring up memories is exactly what photographs do! That is why I enjoy looking at other people’s memories even though it doesn’t remind us it’s still interesting to see things from the past. And to hear the stories that go with the photos how did it get from 1980 to 2022 with 2023 looming and just a few days
I know! 🙂
I love when those memories pop up and remind me of good times.
Love the picture.
🙂
Amen!!!
🙂
You look so happy … good decision!
🙂
I can’t imagine how hard that decision must have been! Those trees were awesome!
Yes. But we do have great views now. And we’re a lot safer from forest fires.
Memories are good but the present is more important.
Amen to that! I’m happy for the memories but I wouldn’t go back. I love the present.
You have really been through a lot. But you kept your roots planted!
🙂
