Andy Came Home Early…

about 4 pm. That was not good news. They had brought up a snow plow and backhoe, the idea being the backhoe would dig our truck out of the snow drift. Unfortunately it didn’t have chains so it couldn’t help. Orlando did a great job plowing, but then when he tried to use the plow to free our truck he couldn’t tell where the side of the road was…it was buried in snow…and he and the plow went partially off the road, tilting towards the drop off. They’ll try to rescue it tomorrow by bringing up a bulldozer. And they’ll also bring chains for the back hoe.

They suggested maybe they could free the truck by pulling it through the snowdrift, but we have the advantage of having tried that with the Jeep. We’ll try something different this time. The new problem with the Jeep wasn’t the fan belt, it was the pump for the power steering (? something like that). We’ll have to tow it to the shop again. We’re pretty sure that’s another consequence of having pulled it through the snowdrift and driving it overheated.

Live and learn…they’ll try again tomorrow. The main thing is everyone is safe and will hopefully remain so.

Andy didn’t take pictures of the heavy equipment but plans to today. He did take these:

More tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

  1. okay “fingers crossed”

I know that the snow and the jeep isn’t a happiness – but to me it looks wonderful but doubt I would cope!

Hope things go more smoothly for Andy and his helpers. That is a lot of snow. We are supposed to get some on Wednesday, but who knows?

Oh my goodness, thankfully no one was hurt! You are kind of living like the pioneers.

We live down here in the apartment, which helps a lot…like when we couldn’t go up to the land for 3 1/2 weeks last summer because of the wildfire.

Your pictures make me feel cold! They are so realistic! Excellent photography, BTW.

oh my, so sorry. It doesn’t look that bad in the last photo. that is a lot of help and nothing working. hope they can get it out today, and then someone will have to tow it to the shop… the saga continues. fingers crossed today it will be freed.

You’ve got a couple fingers crossed here too. Hopefully they have better luck the second time around.
