I received an email from 16personalities yesterday:
Hello Mediator,
Get this – a staggering 92% of Mediators (INFPs) say their dream job involves having freedom to decide what they do and how they do it.
However, not all jobs provide the sense of freedom and meaning that so many Mediators crave. Luckily, we’ve got the inside scoop on what career paths may suit kind and altruistic Mediators like you best.
It included a link to Career Paths for Meditators.
They were right on, having autonomy, the freedom to choose how to spend my time has always been important to me.
Another thing the website says is
With their curiosity and their love of self-expression, many Mediators dream of becoming writers.
In fact professionally I did write…computer programs, simulating protein structures when we were in Ithaca and the electromagnetic fields in particle accelerator cavities here when I went back to work after spending ten years at home with Kaitlin. They were jobs with creative challenges that gave me a lot of autonomy.
They were good matches, but I like being retired even more.
If you had to work, what would your ideal job be?

If I had the talent for the job—which I probable have to serve a long apprenticeship to do—my ideal job would be in art restoration.
I can see how that would be fun for you. 🙂
I did not get a letter that said dear defender so they must not have any jobs for defenders ha ha as for what kind of job I would like to do I cannot think of anything that I would ever want to do other than be retired now if it wasn’t a job I could probably think of a lot of stuff I would like to do. The only way that I would want a job is if I could get a new brain
I love being retired too! 🙂
I’m still waiting for my letter!
If I could find something stimulating, that piques my curiosity each day that would be wonderful. Oh, and where I wouldn’t have to deal with the public. 5 years retired, I still marvel I never killed any of the resort guests. Ha!
I would hate having to deal with the public. I’m so glad you are free of it.
Probably back to where I started out: a disc jockey at a radio station where I could pick the music I’d play. I did that once many years ago when the radio and t.v. station that employed me got the first FM license in our town. I enjoyed the heck out of it. ‘Course I only was on the air one day a week. Actually that kind of work schedule sounds good to me at my present age!
That would be a fun part-time job. 🙂
I don’t know what my ideal job would be but it would have to be something that would allow me to use my creativity. Maybe artist or photographer.
I wish you could earn your living doing something creative and something you loved.
I’d be Sarah Susanka–teaching people how to live in small houses. I actually started down that path about the same time she did but I got diverted. I still enjoy designing small living spaces. This 784 sq. ft. apartment is bigger than we need but the smallest one offered here.
That sounds like it would be a great job for you. 🙂
For years I wanted to be a florist
Then I wanted to make documentaries and be the principal behind a camera
Now not sure but the New Direction in my art is becoming interesting…
I’m so glad you have your art. 🙂
