Not Very Funny, but Too True

Yesterday’s post quoting Steve Jobs reminded me of this Pearls Before Swine comic.

GOAT: Look at this story on this woman who just died. She devoted her entire life to saving at-risk youth and getting them through college. She helped thousands of kids.

When you read about a life like that, it’s hard not to compare it to your own.

RAT: For sure. Like, do I have more social media followers?

GOAT: That’s not what I meant.

RAT, checking and looking happy: And I do!

Sigh, I’ll stick to the age-old wisdom that advises us to know our values, do the best we can to live them, and don’t compare ourselves to other people.

I personally think that in this day and age if we could just

we would be making a big contribution to the world.

agree on this one. being kind could change the whole world.

  2. Ann Thompson says:

Absolutely. What a nice world it would be if people could all just be kind.

  3. How freeing it feels, not to compare myself with others (never quite measuring up)! Wish I’d discovered this 60 years ago.

  4. Linda Sand says:

Being kind is so easy I wonder why more people aren’t.

  5. Ginny Hartzler says:

I agree. and comparing ourselves to others always sets us up for failure. God made us each individual and different, and does not want carbon copies.

  6. The OP Pack says:

Amen to that. A little kindness goes a very long way:)

  7. “be kind to one another” a catch cry from my government during the early days of lockdowns and those who caught the virus. It still pops up from time to time…
