I’ve been using Duolingo for 48 days now. I spent a lot of time on it for the first month, but now I do the minimum, about 15 minutes a day, to keep my streak going. I make liberal use of SpanishDictionary, and I seem to be learning something. Here’s a sample problem:
I have some other apps I can use for variety, but mostly now I’m taking advantage of the fact that a lot of Amazon Prime videos have the option of Spanish subtitles, so I’ve been streaming them. I sometimes stop to look up words, but other times I understand enough of what’s going on and skip the words I don’t know.
Assuming life doesn’t get in the way, it should be fun to see how much I learn in another month or so. I’m impressed at all the options we have nowadays to keep learning interesting and fun.

yes, times have changed sooooooooo much.
it’s only been a few decades since, we had to either go to the library and get a print book on our chosen subject OR get out the 10 volumes of a Encylopedia AND then not necessarily find what we needed!
congratulations Jean on finding my language and getting on with learning it…
oops “finding YOUR language to study and learn” – it’s definitely not my language!
Thanks!
I get primero as first but the rest is greek to me, make that spanish to me ha ha
It’s hopeless without a Spanish dictionary. With one it’s just patience and persistence.
Applauding from the (Southeastern) wings!
Thanks!
Learning new languages is one of the hardest things!
It takes a lot of time and patience.
First, you have what…with…? I know that literal translations don’t often work but since I don’t know the two primary words that’s the best I can do without looking anything up.
In this case you either look up the words you don’t know, or you take a wild guess and let Duolingo mark you wrong and tell you the answer. It will ask you again later.
That was easy. ‘Course I slapped it into Google translate. Then it was easy. Let me know when you want to learn some Spanish cursing. 😀
😀
I don’t understand a word of it 🙂 Google is a big help though…lol
It takes a lot of patience and looking things up.
