I’ve been watching Young Sheldon with Spanish subtitles on Netflix and this scene grabbed my attention:
Why? Because of the phone.
We’ve had the same model and color on the wall of our living room for the past 48 years. It still works fine, how cool is that?

We had one in off-white just like that! When my parents moved to Florida in 1981 they had its twin installed in the kitchen — until one day a bolt of lightening ko’d the whole thing. No more land lines!
That must have been scary!
When I was a news director in Bismarck, North Dakota, I had a bright red princess phone in my apartment. I called it the hot line.
😀
Yep, that was back when a phone was just a phone!
Yes! We still use our landline mostly, but our wall phone isn’t enough. We need to have a push button phone too. Dial phones aren’t enough nowadays.
once a slot in the wall was the way through to a landline, that type of phone disappeared – although the next version wasn’t anywhere like anything very new other than push button knobs…
🙂
Oh my, and it’s even a rotary phone. I had one on the wall in the kitchen when we first moved here in 88. Mine was push button though.
The interesting thing is a couple of episodes later the phone was still yellow and on the wall, but it was push button, not dial. I’m pretty sure no one else noticed, but it leapt out at me. Too funny.
we had one in Savannah, it was the other color back then, avocado green
I remember when that color was a favorite.
We did too! That may be why yellow is my favorite color.
That’s neat!
