Yesterday’s post reminded me of a phrase Andy used to say years ago,
If I were younger I would work up a towering rage, but I don’t have the energy for that anymore.
That’s even more true now that I’m 84 and he’s 89. So when “weeds” happen we try to resolve the problems without wasting emotional energy on them. We’ve been doing well on that.
I’m a visual thinker so the weeds image is my avatar,
and also the image I use for my computer login.
That cheerful image is my role model. On Flickr it’s combined with another one:
The sun and the stairs are a shorthand for one of my favorite questions,
What is one little step you can take right now to make yourself happier?
Fortunately I’m easily influenced by suggestions like that, so they work for me.

I think my answer to your favorite question would be to learn to just let go. I’ve come a long way from where I used to be but there are still times when I overreact to things that don’t really matter all that much.
Just remember the baby elephants! It’s a complicated skill.
Your avatars are so cute. and what a great way to remind yourself to watch out for weeds and remember how to pull them. the older i get the more weeds there are and the harder it is to pull them
That’s what Andy and I are noticing, there are a lot more things we have to deal with!
I like your friendly reminder avatars too!
Thanks. 🙂
So I’m thinking you are a visual learner as well. I have wondered about your avatar logo! It does spread joy.
Yes. I always thought I was a kinesthetic learner, but someone pointed out if you’re good at math and physics it has to be visual. Certainly not auditory.
Your avatar is so cute.
I need to push myself to do more things. I keep putting things off.
You would be amazed (horrified?) by the number of things I’ve decided don’t need to be done.
Emotional energy can be so draining. I’m glad y’all recognize that and take measures to counter those ‘weeds’!
Thanks. 🙂
