A Beautiful Day

It was gorgeous yesterday morning when Andy and I walked the couple of blocks to the health fair at the senior center. It started clouding up when we got home, and we had a gentle rain down here in the afternoon.

As you know, we love rain. It means we’re only in a moderate drought now,

May 7, 2024

Not like the exceptional drought we had in 2018:

May, 2018

Or the severe drought we had before our big fire in 2011.

June, 2011

Or the extreme drought during our last fire in 2022, when were were warned to be packed and ready to evacuate:

May, 2022

You can see why we love rain.

If you are curious about droughts in the whole U.S. or in your state go to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

  1. interesting when I looked at New Zealand and discovered that 2013 a big drought which affected many people, farms and so forth. Or course I don’t recall a drought but I do recall “very bad wet weather”

however, NZ is a melting pot for earthquakes, some rather minor through to devastation

I know, I’ve read about the earthquakes. ? California has them too, and that’s where i was born and raised. Here the problem is wildfires.

How was the Health Fair? Were many there? Was it very comprehensive?

We are happy you are getting some rain as it is easy to see you can use it. We have had “some” rain every day for weeks now, or at least it seems that way:)

A gentle rain is always welcome.

  7. MadSnapper says:

the weather all over the world is now abnormal, it seems some get to much, others not enough. it washed your basket ball court so clean, the trees to. our rain yesterday washed all the dust off the trees and bushes and when the sun came out everything screamed bright green and clean

I like a good rain now and then too. After several days in a row of it, I do get a bit tired of it.

…I love green, so I love a good rain now and then!
