Yes, It Was a Break

A fracture of my right hip. The choices were (1) try to put a pin in it, possibly dicey because they say I have severe osteoarthritis in that hip, (2) a complete hip replacement, or (3) put no weight on that leg for at least six weeks and let it heal by itself. There is no guarantee I won’t need a complete replacement in the future, but that’s what I’m trying. It means I can’t go home to my apartment during this time because we live on the second story and I can’t walk up the stairs. I will let you know how it turns out. I’m leaving the hospital today for a rehab facility and suddenly realized it probably won’t have WiFi, so no blogging or email for a while. I’ll touch base when I can connect again. I’ll miss you! I’m glad the hospital had it at least.

Take care. Love you!!

I am pretty sure that you will have wi-fi. the homes need it to do their business, and can’t do business without it. I think you can use your phone wifi on your iPad if you connect them. don’t think you will need it though. do you have email set up on your phone? if so and you can’t use iPad for any reason, you can email updates to us.. I had one lady at the hospital when Bob had his knees done, tell me she had knee surgery and then hip surgery and the hip was much easier than the knee.. praying yours will heal. Is Kaitlin coming to visit?

  2. Praying for your quick and complete healing.

    God bless.

I am so sorry this happened…I hope and pray you heal during that 6 weeks. And I hope .the rehab facility is not too far from home. I am thinking they will have wifi, too. Around here almost any place has it.

  5. Oh no, take care and I hope the recovery is so much easier than anticipated. We’ll be missing you.

  6. Oh, dear. I also am sure they will have wi-fi. Hopeful for a speedy recovery.

Oh MY!! I am so sorry! But I am glad you are going somewhere where you will be safe and cared for. No weight at all on it for so long will be hard, but I know you are up to it! And they will help you to manage it. I cannot go up or down steps, so we have to live on the first floor. I hope you will be nearby your husband! I will miss you so much. Your witty sense of humor and engaging posts. Update us as you can, but it seems you will be there for several weeks.

I am so sorry to hear this. I’m sure it will be tough not being able to go home but at least you will have people there to take care of you round the clock. Please know that I’ll be thinking of you and wishing you well.

What a bummer and bother but it’s good to know what your options are. Wishing you comfortable, well fed, and steady healing of the fracture.

I’m a retired nurse and long ago I was with an ortho doctor as he told an ER patient that he had a fractured hip. The man replied, “Thank God, I was worried it was broken!”

    Hugs!

  11. Oh my, I’m so sorry to hear this. How come they don’t have WiFi? I do pray that staying off of leg/hip will help you. Surgery is never fun. (((HUGS)))
