Using the first walker last Wednesday was a lot of work. So when Ginny told me that putting cut tennis balls on the legs that didn’t have wheels made them glide easily, I had to try it. (I will use this walker when I have to get a blood draw Friday.) It was harder to cut the balls than I expected, so I found this video.
I laughed at his closing line.
Still, my hands aren’t strong so I had trouble cutting the way he did. Instead I used my small kitchen scissors for more leverage. I ended up cutting a circular hole, and it works just fine.
Would I do it again? Probably not. As it turns out, Amazon has pre-cut balls and other glides for walkers. So I would try some of those instead.
Still, I love the fellow’s closing line,
Old people, don’t break a hip.

I love that closing line, too. He is right.
I had no idea you could get them pre-cut!! Gosh, I hope all the trouble you went to helps!! I am returning the walker tote I bought, and buying YOURS.
Yikes! Cutting with that vicious looking blade seems dangerous to me.
I didn’t know you could buy them already cut. I guess this way is for the do it yourselfer
the closing line says it all. Bob’s cardiologist told him to walk walk walk. Then he said walking helps you keep your balance. I lose more of my heart attacks patients to broken hips from lack of balance, than to heart attacks. his last words were, you do not want to break a hip at your age
Yay for Amazon … Exact-O knives are not my friends. Their tag line should be ‘Work smarter, not harder.’
I had no idea you could buy tennis balls precut. That would be the safest way to go for me, I think–lol! 🙂
Yes, those tennis balls work good and makes dogs happy to chase them too!
I agree, the tennis balls work great. I used them once and so did my husband.
so much new but slightly not wanted education you are getting – yep don’t break the other hip – things might get gnarly!
