God bless.
🙂
No, not really. We are to get another big snow storm on Wednesday, so it is cold here. You asked me about my camera setting for shooting the moon. I don’t have one of those fancy ones that you can change the lenses. I have a Nikon super zoom. And I just use the automatic setting.
Good luck with the weather, and thanks for the info about those great pictures.
For obvious reasons I know Washington’s birthday is February 22, but is typically celebrated on the third Monday of February. I always thought President’s Day was for Washington and Lincoln, but I actually am not sure I know the history of the day.
See tomorrow’s post. We thought we knew but it was more complicated than that.
…for me, President’s Day messed everything up!
Same here!
I just read about this the other day…… his actual birthday was Feb 22nd. I was actually reading about Presidents Day and found it interesting that George Washington actually had 2 birthdates. Feb 11th and Feb 22. Something about the calendars of the Julian calendar and the Gregorian calendar. AND…of course, his birthday is celebrated on the third monday of Feb.
That’s interesting about the calendar change. 🙂
Washington’s birth was on Feb 22nd. Lincoln’s birth was Feb 11th. In Illinois in the 1950s we celebrated each on their correct days. It still irritates me that someone thought they should be combined into President’s Day to make another Monday holiday. I wonder if that person prefers to celebrate his/her birth on a non-related day?
I tend to agree, but I’m happily retired. 🙂
When I was younger, February 11th was Lincoln’s Birthday and February was Washington’s. And the best part was both days were no school days:)
Yes, no school on those days. That’s why we remember.
Caught me without a clue! I do remember one or the other was an official school holiday.
For us it was both, that’s why we remember,
Good to know
🙂
the only reason I know Washingtons birthday is the 22nd is because Dan was born on it in 1967. Dave on Valentines day and 2 years later Dan on Washington’s birthday…
I never know when his birthday is until they say one thing or another is closed because of it. Yesterday I tried to call my bank and got the recording that they were closed. That’s when I remembered.
We have trouble keeping track too.
Washington’s birth is on Feb 22nd. I guess they lumped all the president’s birthday on to one day.
That makes more sense, but “Washington’s Birthday” is now federal holiday on some other day.
Honestly I know nothing about it.
You haven’t missed much. 🙂
Yes, we remember from the good old days!
It wasn’t all good, but we remember that part with fondness.
