This One Made Me Laugh

An English language teacher says to his student. “English can be a difficult language. It can be understood through tough thorough thought, though.”

It’s the pronunciation that makes English so hard. Hurray for phonetic languages like Spanish.

    Well isn’t that a tongue twister. So true though. I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to learn English as a second language.

    Jack is learning how to read and finds it so frustrating. I tell him that english is a very old, very complicated language, and that it’s just hard.

  4. That is quite the line! English has a lot of sight memorization, to be sure. Not always logical. I don’t know how it is to learn compared to other languages because I know no others–lol! 😉

    I was thinking about those very words yesterday. My mom liked to play a game called Upwards. It was like scrabble except you could build vertically as well as horizontally. That “ough” combination was a fun one to build on. Rough, tough, though, thought, etc.

    I have heard that English is one of the hardest languages to learn.
