Lots of drama here…

That was the subject line of an email from Kaitlin yesterday.

The girls treed a woodchuck in our yard. Zoe was going crazy jumping and trying to get it. I forget how high that girl can jump! I finally brought them into the zoom room with me, and lo and behold I could see it from my computer. Thus, of course so could the girls…. They could not let it go!

Torben took the girls for a long walk and it eventually came down but appears stuck in our yard. All gates are open so hopefully it doesn’t have babies here and can find its way out and not come back. At one point it was chewing at our chain link fence. I have since lost sight of it behind our fire pit.

Kaitlin included these pictures:

Tempi wrote more about it in her post.

I was going to write about our weather here yesterday, but their story is a lot more interesting!

    WoW I think

    I know what a dog or2 are

But not what a woodchuck is?

Although I see it can climb trees

  2. Never heard of woodchuck.

    God bless.

I have already read The Real Story. OMW! I just came from Kaitlins blog and am glad I always got to her blog post FIRST when I see it in my readers list. I eagerly await seeing Montana Moments in my feedly list because it almost always has Tempi/Zoe stories and wow on this one… I laughed long and hard at the photo of Zoe barking at the window. this post is the perfect PS to her post and I am leaving with a smile on my face and just love the woodchuck photo, but am glad we don’t have them here

…life seems to be filled with drama these days.

What excitement for Tempi and Zoe. Several years ago (7 or 8) there was a woodchuck living under my shed. It would come out in the evenings and graze in my back yard. I always enjoyed watching it. I don’t think that Gibbs ever spotted it though. I’m sure his reaction would have been similar to Tempi and Zoe’s

I agree this post is a perfect one to accompany Tempi’s. Those girls were a nightmare all day yesterday – trying to escape the yard to find the thing. We were a little smarter than usual and didn’t let them out unaccompanied, so Torben could fix where they were trying to get out (without Tempi seeing him – don’t tell her!). Everyone we spoke too was similarly surprised that they could climb trees (us too!). Things seem calmer today… fingers crossed.

Prior to Montana Moments, there’s no way I might have ID’d a woodchuck in a line-up!
The image of Zoe’s outrage is so funny … but I don’t suppose it’s in the least bit humorous to Kaitlin and Torben. Fingers crossed it’s journeyed elsewhere!

  8. Pixie says:

I’ve never seen a woodchuck, so thank you for that. I can imagine how crazy the dogs were going. Heidi feels the same way about squirrels.

  9. We used to have a woodchuck that would come on our deck and tease my dog through the glass door. They were not afraid of one another.

Oh, it’s a groundhog! We have lots of them here. They used to be called Whistle pigs because of the high pitched alarm whistle they make. On whistled at Phil once. I hope this one stays safe!! they have numerous extended burrows.

  11. Dang, those pups were really excited to have a real live chase scene going on.
