My backups are working again.

When I asked for help they replied,
We can help you to configure the backup, but can you please provide us with the hosting credentials/FTP login details?
Huh? I thought about that for a while, then realized we went through something like this years ago, when I first set up the daily backups. So I looked at what I had saved about Sucuri and found an FTP user name, password, and port number. I gave it to them and it worked.
If you are curious about FTP, here is an explanation. I’m not interested in the details so won’t read it, but I’m glad I saved the information. Otherwise I would have had to contact my hosting service and get it again.
It pays to stay relaxed and patient when these things come up — it gives our minds a chance to dig through old memories. And it helps to write things down!

Glad you got it all taken care of. I probably would have still been confused by their reply to you.
I could have asked for more details about how I was supposed to get that information. That would have been my next step.
That feeling when you find the exact piece of information you saved years ago is the best, and it totally paid off to be patient and remember that FTP detail. It’s such a great reminder that writing things down can save you so much hassle later on. melodyjacob.com
I could have gotten the information from my hosting service again, but it was neat to be able to find it.
When I read your first post on this I was thinking it had happened before. Great job on saving all the information and getting this resolved!
Thanks!
…when things don’t work, I just call my son!
That’s easier!
I often table a problem like that overnight and the answer comes to me like you remembering you had a similar problem before and wrote down the critical information needed. I get thrown by terms like “hosting credentials” and will have to google that before I figure out what is what. Makes you feel good to figure this stuff out on our own, doesn’t it.
It rewards patience. 🙂
I am the solver of most of Mark’s computer issues.
Andy would basically ignore computers without my being here. He does other things that I happily avoid thinking about. We make a good team.
I’m glad you got that puzzle easily solved!
Thank you!
Technology issues stress me.. I have learned to call one of my 6 grandkids. they know everything dealing with computers, phones and such…or at least they think they do. lol
That works fine too!
Congratulations on having a great memory and being clever as well!!
It just means I have spent a lot of time doing this.
I always believed I was somewhat OCD about keeping random bits written down and kept in my (vintage) filing cabinet.
That may be true, but thanks for underscoring my habit!
You are more than welcome!
Good for you!
Thanks. 🙂
I am so happy to hear this! What a relief this must be for you!
