For the past 50 years to get from our second story to the sidewalk we walked down 15 steps,

and then up 8 steps.

But the stairs are rusting out so they are going to remove them and replace them with stairs going straight down to the new concrete pad they have installed.

They say the installation will take less than one day, but we don’t know exactly when they’ll do it because they poured the concrete yesterday and it has to dry first. I will let you know!

That’s a lot of steps to do. One would have to be in good shape to go in and out a lot. Nice that they are replacing the old steps.
I don’t go out a lot, so it isn’t a big deal. 🙂
I didn’t realize they were doing the stairs too. Thankfully! Those rusty ones scare me, and they are so unevenly spaced they are tricky.
I know! I used to love climbing stairs, but not these.
…things are looking up!
🙂
This looks like a much better plan for sure…
🙂
I am amazed that you have lived in your place for fifty years. I imagine it will be much easier with the new steps in place.
Yes. 🙂
Fifty years! I would think you both have good leg muscles.
I do, but not because of these stairs. 🙂
I hope the new concrete will be similarly grooved to help prevent slips in icy weather? I’m still a bit confused … looking forward to seeing the “after” images.
I will show you the “after” when they do it.
yay! so happy for you, a straight shot up or down should be a whole lot easier.. to bad they did not add an elevator or one of those little ride seats
That would be nice, but this is still a great improvement.
So from the looks of it, your path will be much more direct and there will be less steps. Hurrah! I stopped being able to do any steps long ago.
That would be hard!
Yay! I love it when improvements actually are improvements. In general I dislike the words “new, improved” because it means they messed with something I liked.
We feel the same way!
That’s a lot of work, but much needed!
Yes, those stairs are really rusty.
I hope they get it finished up quickly!
Apparently it will be a while. The installers are coming from Albuquerque, 100miles away, so they will replace them along with other stairs in our complex.
Is that going to be easier for you?
We’re mainly happy they are replacing the rusty ones. We don’t mind the number of stairs.
Oh, that is great! 🙂
Hope that works out okay for you.
