That Was a Big Surprise

Kaitlin and I have been talking about how to notify people what’s going on if I were to stop blogging. I have a firewall which is sometimes tricky to get behind, so we decided it would be easiest if she just told people in comments to my last post. It’s probably not necessary, but she could also tell people by commenting on their blogs, using the links to their user names when they comment.

I decided to make sure that worked so I tried going to cheerfulmonk.com straight from DuckDuckGo, the search engine I use (unlike Google it preserves privacy). But when I tried it, this is the first thing that came up:

None of the other listings took me to my site either, and I was curious to see what else IPAddress.com had to say:

Cheerfulmonk.com is a personal blog that emphasizes the philosophy of life as a shared adventure. The site features a variety of content, including reflections on daily experiences,
travel stories, and insights into personal growth. The author shares a positive outlook on life, encouraging readers to embrace joy and connection with others.

The blog is designed to foster a sense of community, inviting visitors to engage with the content and share their own experiences. Through thoughtful writing and relatable
anecdotes, cheerfulmonk.com aims to inspire individuals to find happiness in everyday moments and to appreciate the shared journeys we all undertake.

I don’t know what AI program they’re using, but this one blew me away. And don’t the words “sharing”, “connection”, and “community” describe why we all love blogging? I am so grateful for you all and that we can connect through blogging.

    …I’m too busy for this.

  3. I’ve thought about this and don’t have an answer. Interesting search result.

  4. Leah already knows how to get into my blog and she would let people know if I was unable to blog or died. I’ve never liked it when bloggers just suddenly disappear and you never know what happened to them. 🙂

I’m glad you have a plan in place. Sadly death happens, especially as we get older:)
I love how the AI described your blog. I concur.

    Fascinating search result! WOW!

I have asked my daughter to put it on my post – lol. We’ll see.

I need to share this solution with my son! Off hand, I can think of several bloggers who seemingly disappeared into thin air with no explanation.

I’ve encountered much the same thing when trying to find Cheerful Monk (on Duck Duck Go or Google). MS Edge is the only sure thing; usually, I just click on the most recent comment you’ve left me.

I had a dear blogging friend years ago that passed away.. Her daughter did a beautiful tribute to her mom on her moms blog and it was so nice. Many of my blog friends are my facebook friends as well, so I feel sure that I would be able to get a notice. I sure enjoy having them as FB friends as well…

  10. I agree, it’s sad not knowing what happened when bloggers just up and disappear.

Positive praise indeed!!!! You are a light in the community!

    Blogging community, that is…

  13. Ann Thompson says:

My daughter will get instructions on how to get to my blog to post if anything happens.
That’s a nice summary of your blog. Makes me curious what would come up for mine.
