of pushing back.
Don’t Hesitate
If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
donβt hesitate. Give in to it. There are
plenty of lives and whole towns destroyed
or about to be. We are not wise, and not very
often kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left.
Perhaps this is its way of fighting back,
that sometimes something happens better than
all the riches or power in the world.
It could be anything, but very likely you notice it
in the instant when love begins.
Anyway, thatβs often the case.
Anyway, whatever it is, donβt be afraid
of its plenty. Joy is not made to be a crumb.
What brings you joy? How do you fight, push back, against all the nastiness and bad news? How do you affirm that experiences like kindness, love, laughter, beauty, peace are more important than all the power and riches in the world?

…simple thjings bring me joy!
Me too!
This is so good. Life in general brings me joy…the changing of the seasons, the happiness on people’s faces. There is much out there to share with others..we just need to open our hearts and share the love and joy that is there.
π
Embrace the joy!
π
I love Mary Oliver. What brings me joy? Walking in the woods. Reading a good book. Spending time in the moutains.
π
Joy. It’s such a large word. I don’t know about joy but my animals, my gardens, baking bread, cooking dinner, my husband, bring me solace.
π
That was terrific!
π
Little things and thinking positive. π
π
Amen! Thanks for sharing.
π
This is so true – sometimes we forget! Thanks.

the first thing I thought of was the sheer joy I feel when watching Beau sleep. I sit and stare at his face, or his feet when running in a dream, another thing that brings me joy, is the swaying of palm trees in the breeze, I stood in our side yard staring for long minutes, watch the giant king palm across the street, the sun reflecting from the moving fronds.
Thanks!
Like Sandra, our girls bring me joy every day. What else? Cold mornings, the first taste of strong coffee, coming home safely at the end of a day and locking the front door. Not unlike the old song’s lyrics I heard recently, “I chased the bright elusive butterfly of love.”

My grandson brings me joy
π
This is so true.

It life’s little every day pleasures that bring me the most joy. Fighting against it is easy with the help of God and a little faith.
Little pleasures is it for me too.
