Life Can Be Scary

When I was a kid I used to worry about spiders in the foot of my bedding, so I slept curled up. I hadn’t thought of that in years. And my folks would leave the hall light on until they went to bed, so I tried to get to sleep before they shut it off. I was still afraid of the dark long after I stopped worrying about spiders.

What about you? Was there anything you were afraid of?

The only thing I can recall is having my dresser across a corner of the room so there was space behind it. I swore that I could hear voices coming from behind it when the lights went out.

…is a piece of carrot cake one severing of vegetables?

  3. No. Not the invisible kind.

  4. Shug says:

This is the cutest and it made me laugh just thinking of his carrot nose being taken and made into a cake. Let’s see….My dad was a big man, cowboy hat, boots and the whole look of a Texas lawman. I always felt safe at night because I knew he could take care of anything.

Too funny. When I was kid, I was terrified of our hot water heater exploding.

  6. Your question reminded me of a time when I was 8-9 years old and my brother but a huge spider in my bed. I hate spiders to this day.

  7. Ginny Hartzler says:

Spiders! To this day I am still terrified of them. TERRIFIED! I can’t even look at them on T.V. or in books. It will give me nightmares.

  8. Myra Guca says:

How cute this is! Actually, I don’t recall being afraid of much … not until I grew up. The list is long.

you know me, so will know yes I was afraid of the dark and what might be in it, but spiders did not occur to me, I was afraid of the boogie man that would grab my foot of hand it if was off the side of the cot I slept on. I made myself long and narrow to keep from getting to me.
I was born afraid of the dark OR the fact that my parents took me to a movie, when I was 3 months old. Daddy loved movies, we are talking 1943, and would go off to the movies and leave my Mama home alone. she went with him and when it went dark for the movie to start I screamed so loud she had to leave and go home. I am 81 and still afraid of the dark. Each of our rooms has a nightlight. I need to be able to SEE if I open my eyes, My mother her dad took me on a 2 week trip at age 8 and I screamed in the cave, I screamed when Grandaddy pretended to be stuck in Fat mans squeeze, I screamed when they tried to get me on the trolley that went out over Niagra. there is more but you get my drift… I can’t breathe if its totally dark

I’m afraid of the Keebler company going out of business and Cheez-its disappearing from store shelves…shudder.

    • Jean says:

Tell us about it. We still mourn the loss of Keebler French Vanilla Creams, discontinued in the 1970s, Claude AI says,

I’ll search for information about when Keebler stopped making French Vanilla Creams. Based on the search results, Keebler French Vanilla Creams appear to have been discontinued sometime in the 1970s, though the exact date isn’t documented. According to fan pages and discussions, Keebler cited low sales as the reason for discontinuing the product.

The cookies seem to have developed a devoted following over the years, with many people still searching for them decades later. Unfortunately, they’re no longer available and there don’t appear to be any plans to bring them back. Some fans have mentioned that Vienna Fingers or other Keebler vanilla cream cookies might be alternatives, though dedicated fans say nothing quite matches the original French Vanilla Creams.

    Awwww….this is so sweet!

  13. Sorry about the fear of the spiders and I understand the hall light. Honestly I can’t remember anything that I was afraid of in bed at night.
