Kaitlin and Torben came by train yesterday, and they’ll go back Monday.
As you can see, there were a lot more people at the Lamy station than there were when we traveled in September. The train was also packed — Kaitlin and Torben couldn’t get a bedroom like the one we had, but they did get a roomette (similar to this one) so they could lie down and get some sleep. Because they were traveling during a peak time they paid as much for the roomette as we did for our bedroom — about twice as much as flying.
They didn’t drive with the pups because of lack of time, and because the motel they used to stay in has gone out of business — there are no local motels that allow dogs. That’s no problem in the summer, because they can stay in the cottage. In the winter there’s no guarantee the weather will cooperate.
Anyway, they’re here!

Bad news first; the link to the roomette does not work.
And since you have got such good news, what more can I add other than to say, enjoy them.
I fixed the link. Thanks for letting me know.
Yes, we’re having a good time.
oh monk.
i simply love where you live.
and i would always pay more to travel on the train!
have a wonderful time! xo
isn’t kaitlin’s hair beautiful . . . shining like gold there in the sun.
Yes, we’re grateful for being able to live here. I hadn’t noticed the hair, but you’re right, it does look like gold. 🙂
Love this post!
My kids (offspring) stay 2 wks & come at the same time sometimes. Lydia & family stayed 6 months one time. I think it was to try out living in the US. Patrick didn’t like it because he uses metrics in his work & we use inches–british units which the british have stopped using. 😀
Tom added that his work uses metrics for measurement. “I did not know that.”–Johnny Carson used that phrase a lot.
You have a lot more visitors than we do! Kaitlin and Torben usually stay three full days. This time it’s only two, but we get more time with them coming and going to Lamy. They’re hoping to come back in July with the pups, although poor Sammy is 11 years old and is starting to have health problems.
nice to see your family arriving…
Thanks.
