Discouraging Critters

Yesterday I wrote saying I hated the idea of killing poor critters who only wanted to make a nest for themselves, and Beate emailed a possible solution. A friend of hers had good luck with Rid-A-Rat. The idea is simple. Rats like dark places, so just install a little blinking light to discourage them.

I ordered one of them and also a motion-detecting LED porch light — the light turns on when it detects motion, then shuts itself off to save the batteries. We’ll try them both, one in the truck engine compartment and one in the well house. We’ll let you know if either of them seem to work.

Thanks, Beate!

when i moved to the wee blink bonnie i bought a little item called ‘ pest offense ‘
it plugged into one of the outlets. an ultra sound high frequency ran through all the wiring up to 1500 square feet.
it didn’t harm pets. as long as your pet was a dog or cat.
if you had a hamster or a tarantula … it would kill them.
it didn’t kill mice who entered… they never would enter in the first place!
    the sound repelled them.
it was a great humane solution! i never had a mouse in the entire 15 years i lived there! safe for humans too of course. 🙂

Hope it works to discourage them… for the critters’ sakes.

Hope it works for sure Jean but I am very apprehensive as to it being able to give you any measure of success. Hopefully I am quite wrong! 😕
