Roadwork, 9-27-14

Andy got home shortly after 5 yesterday afternoon. Much better than the 7:45 Friday evening, since when they do roadwork he has to get up at 5 am to leave here by 6 to get there by 7. That’s too long a day!

Anyway, they actually finished smoothing the road, so he can sleep in tomorrow.

They still have to use a backhoe to dig out the culverts next Friday — and maybe Saturday if they need the extra time. But the road is now drivable for trucks, in particular the one that will refill our propane tank and (hopefully) the one that will bring up bigger batteries for the photovoltaic system.

Andy has been looking forward to those new batteries, and it wasn’t clear that we would be able to afford them this year. We wouldn’t have if we had had to do as much roadwork as we did last year.

It was a great summer — no problems with forest fires, plenty of moisture for the vegetation, and we only had to do roadwork once before now. Yay, Rainy Season 2014!

“Andy and Orlando were going to fix up the roads…”

Our next door neighbor’s cat is Orlando. They used to live in Orlando, Florida.

The things we do to be far from the maddening crowd and city life! By the way I think your rains came my way! It’s enjoyable mostly but the weather cools fast; autumn rushes in! Still my kind of season – my time of year.
I know this completed task increases the pleasure of your mountain home. As I said before, what a big job – well done, and done!! Take care.

Actually we live in an apartment in a small town, so we’re far from the maddening crowd down here. The land and house up there is Andy’s project — he loves it.

Our agreement is he can spend as much money as he likes as long as he’s happy. It’s a bargain for both of us.

no rain for us… but i’m SO GLAD for you!
that finished road is simply beautiful.
i think you should name your road. and the name for it is ‘ perseverance. ‘
    it’s the truth of it . . . and it’s a beautiful name.
kudos andy!!! and all his helpers!
    xo

Name Andy Perseverance. He’s the one with the difficulties. The road only had to lie there. How about Troublemaker for the road’s name. ;D

    That road looks hugely improved.

Spring always should mean it’s nearly summer – but here in our narrow isthmus the weather is all over the place – you can start with heavy rain, early morning and shift through several seasons (I missed all the rain today) and just after you get home it’s raining again…

Clocks sprung forward this last weekend as well…the first night slept well, the next still awake and actually doing reading at 2am with alarm clock set for 7.30am! So maybe tonight I will get a proper kip…tomorrow is home day

That’s some seriously awesome roadwork there. Well done.
