So the Republicans won control of the Senate by running against Obama. He says the people sent the message that he and Congress should stop the gridlock and cooperate to get things done.
On the other hand, he promises to use his authority to let millions of undocumented immigrants to stay in the country. What do you think the chances are that he and Congress can really work together?
What do you think the chances are that the Republicans can work with one another to get things done now that they control Congress?

I don’t think the Republicans will have as much of a problem problem working with one another as they had working with the Harry Reid led Senate. Obama working with the Republicans is another matter altogether. I’m not going to hold my breath.
I’m not holding my breathe either.
Senior moment. Breath. (I breathe.)
I’m not expecting much cooperation from Obama. I am interested to see if the Republicans can do anything constructive now that they have the chance.
I’m not familiar with your voting system or even really how your country works…
What happened here a month back was a lot of things that were expected to change but as I said “dirty politics” was the name of the game and there was a landslide victory for the sitting party (National)
There was a lot of dirty politics here in NM. Non-profit groups with a lot of money and no accountability to the candidates were slinging mud like mad.
I am not qulaified to comment but I am a very interested bystander watching for developments.
Yep. All we can do is watch.
I think they can work together fine if Obama doesn’t screw it up. I think he will by using his executive power to fight for his view on immigration. Too bad he probably won’t compromise.
It should be interesting, but probably sad. 🙁
I am glad we in Aus don’t have a presidential system (more accurately we don’t use the one we sort of have – the governor general needs to give assent to all bills according to the constitution; but, except in a couple of scandalous cases, always has).
That’s interesting. Who executes the laws?
