Speaking of selfies, yesterday The Washington Post had this article: Bison selfies are a bad idea: Tourist gored in Yellowstone as another photo goes awry:
On Tuesday, a 43-year-old Mississippi woman and her six-year-old daughter were snapping a selfie in front of a wild bison when the massive animal attacked.
The woman, who had her back turned to the bison even though it was barely six yards away, tried to flee but was overtaken by the bison and tossed into the air, according to the Associated Press. The unidentified tourist was taken to a clinic nearby and treated for minor injuries.
The attack is the fifth so far this year in which a Yellowstone tourist got too close to a bison.
There are a lot of both visitors and bison in Yellowstone National Park. Here a herd of bison is monopolizing the road:
Visitors are warned that bison protect their personal space, so stay at least 25 yards (75 feet) away, but a lot of people can’t resist the temptation. In the case of the woman who was gored, she said she knew they shouldn’t be that close, but a lot of other people were doing it so she thought it would be all right. Well, no, it wasn’t a good idea, especially to do it with your six-year-old!

i have mixed feelings about tourists in yellowstone.
or any national wild park with many animals really.
i went on and looked at other videos in that group that you show here…
and in one… everybody is just sitting there with all their engines running… polluting the air… it looked like a highway full of commuters! i find that sad.
people seem to have no respect whatsoever for wildlife.
it’s THEIR home! we are intruding. and there are SO MANY of us.
and the woman gored showed ridiculous disregard. and as you say…
with a six year old!
Except the reason the parks have been preserved from development is so people can enjoy them. They are definitely best enjoyed before or after the tourist season!
Too many people on the earth? Of course, and it’s getting worse and worse. It can’t go on forever.
She got what she deserved for being just plain stupid.
I have to admit, I’ve done stupid things in my life and am glad I didn’t get what I deserved!
What Ramana said. People don’t understand that animals can be very dangerous if they feel human beings are disturbing them in any way. Just because they look placid doesn’t mean they’re harmless. Even tiny dogs can be vicious if they feel threatened.
The problem with bison is they look so placid, and they don’t growl or roar to warn people off.

The most of wildlife that we have here are domestic animals that often hold up traffic in farming area – milking cows, sheep and probably other things.
That’s interesting! Here some people try to make sure there are areas where wildlife can still live.
