Living in a small town with limited shopping, we love being able to buy online. When we first came here over 40 years ago, there were two catalog stores — Sears and Montgomery Wards. We bought a lot from them, but we have a much larger selection to choose from now.
Do you shop much online?
August 18, 2016
Occasionally I shop online – I have bought books for University study – & general reading if I wanted something special
I used to buy my food online, but the delivery changed whereby, they refused to come down to the kitchen to put the packages on the bench – I was handed them in a hurry at the door…so suddenly I found myself swimming in stuff.
I haven’t tried out things like manchester, clothing or similar…my niece likes AliExpress (or whatever it called)…
You most likely have more brick and mortar options than we do. We’re out in the sticks.
When we are looking for something specific, it’s usually easier to find it online instead of in a traditional store. Last time I went clothes shopping, I spent hours trying to find items that fit. I ended up finding 1 polo shirt at J. C. Penny — and, then, went home and ordered several more of the same brand and style, but in different colors from the Penny website.
The tragedy, of course, is that, often, traditional brick and mortar stores have difficulty competing.
Yes, I do feel for the brick and mortar businesses.
I do. Books, DVDs and other things that I can get online.
It’s so convenient.
only occasionally.
it’s not that I dislike it. I just don’t seem to come across things I need!
That works too!
When I need something I go first to Amazon using a link from an affiliate blogger who gets part of the money. But they don’t deliver right to our apartment. If it won’t go in our tiny mailbox it goes to the office and Dave fetches it from there. Still better than wandering the mall looking for whatever I need.
Yes, I hate having to go from store to store. Especially when most of the stores are 35 miles (Santa Fe) or 100 miles (Albuquerque) away. We’re lucky that our packages are delivered to our doorstep here in town. If we lived on the land it would be a lot more complicated.
I’m attracted to the idea of online shopping, but to be honest, I spend so much time on the computer, that I hesitate to get into it. So far, I’ve only purchased books from Amazon.
I know what you mean about the computer! I’m trying to spend less time on mine too. But not by not shopping. 🙂
My sister added me to her Amazon Prime account a couple of years ago so that I get free shipping and now I buy as much as I can online!
In fact, just this week I signed up for Amazons monthly subscription for dog food and dog potty pads to be delivered right to my door.
I also bought my push reel mower from there, again it was delivered right to my door!
I love that I can read all the reviews and make an informed decision.
I also always get a better price!
Besides that, it saves me running around looking. Saves gas money and it also saves me from getting sucked in at the stores and buying other things I don’t need.
Amazon is my new best friend! Lol!
Yes. We love Amazon Prime, too.
I would be lost without the ability to order online. Ten years ago when we moved to a little village in northeastern Maine unless I wanted to drive an hour at least to stores, I had no choice but to order online. amazon.com is the most simple and most used. read reviews to see how good the product is. look for free shipping. have an account so the closing purchase is simple. I’ve also very appreciative because I have major permanent problems with my feet and it’s painful for me to walk much. I can sit at home and look at almost any retail establishment to my heart’s content from J.C. Penney’s to LL Bean to Macy’s and Nordstrom’s. Grateful to have the capability.
I agree, it’s a real blessing. We buy most from Amazon because of the reviews and because they stand buy their merchandise. If it’s defective just tell them, print out a label, and return it.
all sounds like something that might be useful – depending on my next abode…sometimes there is free shipping to NZ which makes it all quite worthwhile
