Spring Weather and Continuing Education

We had a little bit of snow last night, but most of it melted before I left for Silver Sneakers shortly after 10 a.m. There is still snow on the hood of the car and on the windshield.

I took the above quick snapshot with my iPod Touch. Here it is cropped in a photo editor to zoom in on the area of interest.

We don’t have smart phones, so as part of continuing education I bought the iPod Touch to see what the camera could do. I was impressed that such a little device (4.86″ by 2.31″ by 0.24″) can take a fair picture.

When I got home I took another picture using the zoom function:

Not a bad picture!

You can see the snow has melted — notice in particular the snow behind the dark car across the parking lot. Spring must be here!

a lot of Bradford pear trees all over the city were in bloom here. last night we had a freeze.
blossoms are brown now. it always happens. on Friday it’s to get up to 80.
    ‘springtime on the prairie!’

some of our weather is determined by the wind direction – if the weather dude suggests anything with “south” in it – it’s definitely a lot colder…and S has shown up in SW-ly, S-ly twice this week…and yep I’m not feeling the summer heat. I’ve a little extra layer on the top today and last night started out quite nippy in bed (new layer added) – but there is sun (not brilliant warming stuff though)…

sounds like the “continuing ed” is still with you and your new gadget looks encouraging…

  3. It’s spring! Things are busting out all over here. We have ducklings, only a few days old. The parents (Mallards) brought them to hide in our little hedge (very protected), and, although we give the parents water and a bit of grain, we don’t go anywhere near where the babies may be hiding. Hopefully they will emerge soon, as they did last year.

We have had hail in some parts of our state ruining crops. Other than that, the spring is in full swing and we are rapidly moving towards higher temperatures daily.

    Spring can be brutal.
    54 degrees today.
    Possibility of snow this weekend
but nothing like the East Coast is getting right now!

  6. May I ask, what is or are Silver Sneakers?

  7. Thanks for the link, Jean — looks great, and of special interest to me.
