Melting Snow

We’ve been having above-freezing temperatures the past few days.

Andy still had to shovel a foot or two of snow to uncover the well house.

But there was water in the Del Norte stream and in the gully along Woodcutters Road.

And Andy and the sun have been working on that big snowdrift preventing him from driving the last mile to the house.

If the weather holds, the worst of the snow may be gone in a couple of days. He still may not drive up right away because of all the mud — if he waits until it’s mostly dry he won’t tear up the road as badly. We will see how it goes.

The pussy willow had a close call from a falling tree:

    Do you cover your pussy willow bush with mesh of some kind? I’ve never seen that done around here in W. MI. Just hearing its name gives me hope that spring might actually come. Right now our landscape is as snow covered as yours with more snow and cold coming this week.

    It’s always good when a falling tree misses anything! 🙂 Rain and snow mix has arrived for us – I wonder what it’ll all end up being? In the end, I’ve no doubt it’ll be more mud – I don’t think grass will ever grow in our yard again!

    PS: The doctor I work for agreed that your post from Thursday (?) that I printed out was spot on! Thanks again for your inspired post!

      Yes, more mud is a good prediction. 🙂

      I’m glad you liked the post. I learned that from my father, who hated his job but also hated the fact he was addicted to alcohol. When he retired he just drank more because he didn’t have any activity that he loved.

      I loved him deeply, and never more than the day he told me, “Watch what I do and do the opposite.”

    Hooray for melting snow. I don’t know which is worse, all the snow or the mud that you find when it all melts.
