Happy New Year!

Andy gave me a birthday card with this cover years ago, but it’s also appropriate for New Year’s.

Inside there was a picture of Snoopy as Joe Cool saying,

…get your
act together
be cool.
and let the
good times roll!

Do either of those sentiments resonate with you?

For years now my New Year’s resolution is to continue what I’ve been doing, mainly try to live by my motto,

Stay curious and open to life — no matter what happens keep learning and growing. Find what you love and find a way to share it with others.

It gives me a sense of direction and keeps me centered, but it has nothing to do with reaching for Linus’ higher goals. It’s probably more like Joe Cool’s getting my act together. Whatever it is, it works for me.

What works for you?

ever learning over and over to accept whatever IS as a beautiful part of life.
just waking in the morning and breathing has become a real treat. 😀

Your motto is a fine way to describe what it can feel like to discover and follow up on one’s purpose in life! Much closer to Linus than Joe Cool. (Is that because I’ve never been “cool” myself, or easily recognized it in people I admire?)
    Happy New Year!

Yes, I have to admit I’ve always been purpose-driven but not achievement/goal oriented. And no one has ever accused me of being cool. 😀

Happy New Year to you, too!

  3. Happy New Year CM & everyone else

“What am I doing…” at the moment I’m not really sure; not because there aren’t any options but whether those options are right for me.

And those options aren’t just about “art” but about a whole gambit of “life” – some of it doable whilst other parts not going to be easy, and I may find I have to rejig that/those choices.

Right now, I’m trying a new breakfast option – the first time I made it, it wasn’t quite right, edible but it didn’t look like the “picture” – (rechecked with Mr Google) & the next time I made it, I made too much – & I was overfull for too many hours – then I discovered it would keep…so I still make the bigger potion and it could be handy if I need “some thing more” during the day with additions with it…

now I’m trying a new “timing” method with my new pill regime – shifting the “pill popping time” forward 30mins…that might not be a solution

and today I’m off to try out a new program … paid for 6 weeks trial.

Life to me, especially this year, is making better choices for lots of “my life” which probably would never work for others…

And of the art-making: that’s still WIP

“…making better choices” sounds like a good thing to focus on! And as you say, it’s about what’s right for you. Let us know how your adventure goes.

  4. I love your motto. You can’t go wrong living life by those words…or at least try to.

Neither of those two sentiments apply to my life right now but my husband was a huge Snoopy fan. He was always bringing cards, coffee cups, t- shirts and other stuff home with ‘Snoopy wisdom’ printed on them.

    • Jean says:

You have so much to do for your difficult transition — good luck, take care of yourself, and thank you for sharing the process with us.

I hope things go well with you in this coming year.

  5. Ann Thompson says:

I’m always working on getting my act together.
    Happy New Year.

    • Jean says:

You’re doing fine — you’ve been going through a lot! I’m glad you have your family and Gibbs, and that you share your life with us. Thank you.

Happy New Year to you too.

Curiousity is the most important asset: long have I said that.

Right now, I just keep on keeping on….a real blessing every morn when I hear Roger moving or snoring or whatever. for such a long time, I really did have a fear of what I would find of the morn. Before he got the Cpap and I could sleep with him, I would still wake with a bit of fear if he was very still.

    • Jean says:

That’s really scary. Andy’s almost 85 and there’s no telling when something might happen, but that’s not as immediate as what you’ve been going through. Fingers crossed and best wishes. And thank you for posting your pictures. I appreciate them.

Your motto resonates with me, especially the part about finding what you love. If you do that, you will most certainly keep learning and growing! Happy New Year to you and yours, Jean!

  10. Nick Rogers says:

Fulfill your purpose in life? The only purpose I’ve ever had is to enjoy whatever I’m doing and walk away from anything that’s boring. I always want to let the good times roll!

    • Jean says:

Once I read your your next comment I checked, and for some reason this one needed to be approved. I don’t know why WordPress did this, it did it to another frequent commenter recently, so I need to start checking my comments to see if some are pending my approval. Sorry about that! I want commenting to be easy. Thanks for letting me know.

  11. nick says:

I didn’t know you’d introduced moderation. Have you been trolled?

    • Jean says:

It’s supposed to be set up so when a person comments once I need to approve it, then if they don’t change their information they should automatically be approved.
