When he was 99 years old Captain Tom Moore decided to walk 100 25-meter (82-feet) laps in his garden before his 100th birthday to raise money for the National Health Service. The NHS had given him excellent care for his skin cancer and broken hip and he wanted to show his gratitude.
He was hoping to raise £1,000, but he caught the imagination of the country and ended up raising over £32 million (about $40 million).
Apparently he has been promoted to honorary colonel and will be knighted when they figure out how to do it under the current lock down restrictions.
How cool is that?

Wow, that’s really something.
Yes. 🙂
We saw that story on the news too. Captain Tom Moore is a great person.
Woos, Lightning and Timber
He certainly is. 🙂
such a determined sweetheart he is. I had seen him on the news but hadn’t seen this video of the soldiers saluting him. brought tears to my eyes. xo
We can’t watch the news because they took the antenna off our roof. So we get our news from the internet and newspapers. I’m glad they gave him so much publicity.
Just goes to show you are never too old to make a real difference.
Amen to that!
Bravo!
Yes!!
The power of one person… sometimes we forget how powerful that one person can be. What a wonderful story. Thank you for posting it!! xoxo
And sometimes a person who makes a big difference in another person’s life will never know it. I’ve had teachers like that. I still remember them and wish I could have let them know.
Shows just what having determination can do….this is a wonderful story.
Yes. 🙂
yep, I heard about that as well…
It’s a great story and worth repeating. 🙂
