A Lot Fancier Than the Old Days

A couple of days ago Kaitlin sent me a fancy 59-page recipe book with this cover:

Kaitlin wrote,

When we moved we found Torben’s mimeographed version of his class collection of recipes. It was stapled lovingly with a orange construction paper cover. This is today’s version…

I’m sure the kids were proud of the book they and their families produced, but it’s the idea of Torben’s that warms my heart.

If you click this link, you can see videos of some of the kids cooking from their recipes.

  2. I’ll be interested in that “word” as well Rose

I half-pie looked at the short videos, looks like it’s an easy recipe book to follow along with…

  3. Yes, then and now, are very different. In so many things/places.

  4. Kids these days are doing such high quality print and media material it’s mind boggling.

This is so special. And personally, Italian is my favorite ethnic cooking…and most are simple, easy recipes.

That is fancy. I remember the ones my kids did in school. They were the construction paper cover kind.
Call me crazy but what I noticed in the videos was the kitchens these kids were cooking in. They all put mine to shame.

I can’t tell you how many times I have said to Bob that I wish I had been a child during this era there’s a lot of bad things in this area like being kidnapped and all the bad stuff that goes on but I would love to have grown up with the technology that we have now. I think I would have done better in school with what they have available now

I liked school when I was a kid, but I love the internet and technology I have now even more. I’m sure I appreciate it because I didn’t have it earlier. I wonder what these kids will face in the future. Fingers crossed for them.

You had me at mimeographed! (*grin*) How I loved that peculiar aroma.
It’s not a compilation of recipes, but I’ve still got one of those ‘books’ stapled with a construction paper cover.

I didn’t save any, but I remember writing reports and creating the covers for them. I still like simple and homemade better than something fancy someone else has made.
