It was strong enough to blow this heavy storage container from the corner of the porch.
And it blew our outdoor wireless thermometer from its holder.
Andy looked but couldn’t find the thermometer. He put the box and the holder back where it belonged.
Also our power went out from about 6 to 9:30 this morning, and Andy couldn’t go up to the land because the highway up there was closed because of fallen trees. The fellow he talked to said it would probably take all day to clear them.
The weather guessers were right about this one!
Did anyone else have problems?
December 15, 2021
High winds for our area, but as far as I know, no damage
That’s great.
your Andy is such a fine looking man! and to think what he can accomplish.
I hope the fellow he talked to was going to clear the trees from the road? !!!
is the county responsible for it? it’s hard to believe that individual landowners would have to do it all. except for their own driveways of course. I don’t know how all that works!
The fellow he talked to was from the state. They were just clearing the trees from the highway. The road Andy was working on is on private property and the Forest Service has an easement, but they don’t maintain it.
We are so thankful that we had no problems. The weather these days is just crazy, breaking records. You have a goreous view from your porch!
Unfortunately the weather is going to get crazier and crazier. I’m glad you didn’t have problems from this one.
I do love the views from the porch. 🙂
We had just a dusting of snow and I noticed later in the day that our garbage dumpster had been blown about a foot but that was all here.
I’m glad there was no damage. We had a dusting of snow too.
wow a strong wind that appears to have zapped across a few states – me assuming that is the scenario…
earlier this year, one night it was forecast to be gale force winds, for some reason the dude next door obviously didn’t pay attention – his outdoor furniture suffered including this large outdoor umbrella flying over the balustrade and the cover was ripped off and went for a long trip – he never did find it.
I on the other hand secured my little back porch oddments, including bringing in a large plastic box I use when dyeing with coffee…the only casualty I had was my little hearth brush rolled down the steps.
a lot of other peoples garbage rolled down our driveway … we were picking up all kinds of things!
Wind will do that! Good for you. 🙂
Glad that was the worst you got there from the winds. When we had those high winds here the worst that happened was the garbage can outside blew over.
We’re lucky if that’s the worst that happens. 🙂
so glad all you lost was the themomter, although I know how much he loves it. he looks fantastic. we are thousands of miles from you, so no weather here. glad you are safe and hope your road to the mountain top is not too bad .
I immediately ordered another thermometer. It’s a different brand, but it should work. Bless the internet!
We had wind, too, but no damage that I know of. So glad that the damage was no worse for you. It is raining here as I type this. And so dark and dreary…
Around here we love rain…because it’s so rare. 🙂 I hope you get some sunshine soon.
Thankfully, we had no severe weather … for a change! Super thankful, too, for modern technology that helps keep everyone apprised and prepared.
Yes, those warnings are invaluable. They have saved so many lives.
Wow, that was some strong winds.
Enough to get our attention, but no casualties so no complaints.
We’re fine. We stayed inside and have nothing on our balcony so didn’t have anything to blow away. The temps then went up to about 60° F so all the snow melted. Outside looks like late fall instead of winter.
Our skiff of snow has also melted already.
We had 70 mile an hour winds
I lost power for 2 plus hours but
I’m SO GRATEFUL that the huge old trees in my backyard
didn’t come down.
My picnic table and benches were blown to the side of the yard
But no real damage.
I’m so happy about your trees. That must have been scary.
