We went in via the del Norte road last Monday, and it was the first time I saw it since the fire. Some trees had burned of course, but I was most stricken by all the greenery that had already popped up.
Our house was hidden in the fog as we drove in, the first time I can remember seeing it that way. .
More pictures of the drive in are here on Flickr.

it’s beautiful! your recent rains certainly must have helped! xo
Yes! 🙂
Amazing how resiliant nature is!
Yes. 🙂
amazing how quickly a bit of water will do for land so recently burnt out – and the contrast at points very distinct, almost surreal
Yes, it’s a joy to see.
I read your title and though you had gone to the movies….lol I was thinking drive-in movie theater.
That second photo is gorgeous even with all the burnt trees
😀
the second photo down is beautiful and sad at the same time. the last of your photos on flicker are just plain awe inspiring and so sad. all those beautiful trees down but all the new green growing so fast this soon. the whole set of photos tells a story with no words, including your hubbys face and the do not lock sign.
Life isn’t boring there…there’s always something. 🙂
Is that the Valle Grande (caldera) in Pix #2 and on Flicker?
My hs beau and I used to drive up there to star gaze (grin).
It is. I’ll bet you have fond memories. 🙂
