Checking Out Starlink

We have HughesNet for our internet provider up on the land, but the connection is slow. So Kaitlin and Torben ordered Starlink and she can make zoom calls for work now. At the moment the receiver is on the ground where it has a good view of the sky, and it’s a big improvement.

Eventually they will install it on the roof so Torben and Andy brought it up there while Kaitlin checked that the reception was good.

I haven’t heard of starlink, sounds like a great idea! that way they can spend more time there, since she can work from there.

What a job! Interesting that there is so much difference between providers!

Starlink has a lot of satellites in lower orbits than the other providers. It’s great for rural areas now, but it needs more satellites for more congested urban areas.

Glad she was able to find something that gave a better connection. I’ve never heard of Starlink before.

  4. We, too, have HughesNet. It does the job, but I’d like to learn more about Starlink when it becomes available here.

We dont know much about Starlink, but it sounds like a great option. Oh dear, be careful on that ladder!!!

  7. a good many people here in more rural NZ use Starlink – so it’s a worldwide system
