Yesterday was my nine-month anniversary of using Duolingo and learning Spanish. I started because I was getting tired of the word games and Sudoku I was playing and I knew learning another language was an even better mental exercise. Duolingo made it easy to do a little bit each day, just like other mental games.
I’ve been doing just enough Duolingo to keep my streak going, but I’m also streaming videos with Spanish subtitles. I’m impressed by how many videos Netflix offers with a choice of subtitles. That’s a clever use of AI, and I’m grateful they’re doing it.

that’s great – 9 months, soon you’ll be celebrating a year – awesome
Thanks. I’m definitely hoping to keep it up until I hit that year mark.
how did 9 months go by this fast. wow! that is scary… i think watching the spanish movies is a great way to practice what you have learned.
I know, the time zips by and it’s fun to see that something has happened.
Way to go!!!
Thanks.
We watch Spanish movies/series with English subtitles. They are a good way to learn how people really speak. I was surprised to learn how often one word, like “claro”, can be used in so many situations.
That’s why learning languages takes a lot of exposure.
Good for you for sticking with it!!
Thanks. 🙂
That’s awesome that you’ve been doing it for that long. Way to go sticking with it.
Thanks. 🙂
Good for you, that’s a great brain exercise!
Yes, it exercises more than one part of the brain.
What a cool way to challenge yourself and you stuck with it a lot longer than I would have been able to do.
Thanks. 🙂
Good for you. You should be very proud of yourself.
Thanks. I’m happy about it. 🙂
