Busy Day

Things are still going well here. I spent a large part of the day sorting through a gazillion emails and practicing using a wheelchair..I like the walker a lot more. And I actually have the Olympics on now. I hadn‘t watched TV in years, and I still prefer Roku and my Netflix programs with Spanish subtitles.

I hope you all had a great day!

That’s good that you are able to use a wheelchair or walker to get around. I was thinking how hard it would be to spend 6 weeks in bed not moving around.

I was wondering just what all you are allowed to do and what is strictly forbidden. I am so glad you have the internet…

It’s not completely clear. All they said at the hospital was don’t put any weight on the leg. Now other people are adding other things, and I have to guess what’s right and what isn’t.

Thanks so much for this update!
I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t award you a medal for your efforts!

I trust you to know what you are doing but am curious as to how can you use a walker without putting any weight on your leg? I would think crutches would be better for walking. A wheel chair can be handy for movement as well but getting in and out of it without putting weight on your leg might be challenging. I am sure the therapists are teaching you what you can safely do; I’m just having trouble picturing it.

You hold your body up with your arms and you hop. Apparently my upper body strength is unusual, which is a plus. At the hospital they were surprised I did so well on the walker. Here after they evaluated how well I do with the wheelchair they let me go to the bathroom by myself as long as I used it rather than the walker. A walker is a lot more stable than crutches.

We hope the hip is healing well. It must be tough to be so confined when you are used to “doing”. But we know you are following doctor’s orders. So far we are enjoying the Olympics. Lots of different events to enjoy

  11. Glad you are doing well. Praying you will recover soon. ((Hugs))

  12. it won’t be a short process but I’m sure you will do the best you can
