During those two months I was on call for jury duty in District Court, I had to go down to Alburquerque twice when I wasn’t chosen. (The second time was fun because Kaitlin could come with me and went spent the night in a motel the night before.) Then I had to go and was chosen for a trial which took two and half days. Finally I was almost at the end, just ten days to go. The new call was only for Santa Fe, so I figured no matter what I could be home by dinner time. Uh, nope. I was sequestered for the rest of the week. They did drive us all to our homes so we could pack.
So when Kaitlin came home there were three strangers (fellow jurors) standing on our porch, and the man in the living room introduced himself as a federal marshal. When she came into the bedroom she saw me packing and said,
Mommy, what did you do?!
A perfectly valid question.

still laughing, Mommy what DID YOU DO? too funny. yikes I am glad that did not happen to me. I dreaded I would be called for Federal which was in Tampa and an hour drive away in heavy traffic and federal last so long and almost always end up sequestered… I made it past my cut off with only 3 calls, all local and only one trial, 2 not needed. the thing is I am 80 and those were he only times I was ever called, and all here, never in other places I have lived. odd

Oh lol. Presumed guilty.
I was on jury duty once for a week but didn’t pass selection. But loved my time in the jury room. Knitted all day and made some friends.

Nothing like coming home to find your mom packing with a federal marshal waiting for her. I’ve gotten lots of subpoenas to appear for jury duty over the years but have only ever been picked for one jury. The trial only lasted a couple hours.
The hardest part is having to check once a week to see if you have to appear.

Oh my. That was a lot of jury duty and having to spend time in a hotel is asking a lot of you. Glad you are done with that. Ours is always local.
