It turns out they won’t install the new stairs for a while. They plan to replace other stairs in the complex and will do them all the same day. No one knows when yet.
But, they did widen our sidewalk so it would be easier to clear it in winter. We expected it would take a couple of days for the concrete to harden, but they started walking on it the next morning. Shows how little we know. π
The most exciting part of that project is it now connects our sidewalk to the sidewalk in front of the laundry room! Notice the new angled section.

Before we had to step off our sidewalk and walk across the beginning of the drainage ditch to the other sidewalk. It was easy enough if a car hadn’t parked right up to the curb. In that case we had to either walk on the parking lot and go around the back of the car or else put our hand on the car for balance as we walked in the drainage ditch in front of it. Not a serious problem, but enough of a nuisance that we are ecstatic the problem has been fixed.
They embedded pipes in the sidewalk so water can still drain from the parking lot.

How cool is that!

yay for the new sidewalk, boo for waiting on the steps. hope that happens sooner rather than later
We’re relaxed about the stairs, just curious.
Hopefully it won’t be too long ?
We’re in no hurry.
It’s always nice to see improvements made. Especially when they do make things easier.
π
Thank you for the photos! I was curious what the pipes would look like. This is just so amazing – it was always such a nuisance dealing with that section of the sidewalk, as well as navigating other spots where the big vehicleβs engines hung over the sidewalk. Plus, it looks so clean and even. Yay! I cannot wait for the stairs as well.

Memories are so interesting. It has been years but I still see that gravel area and think βWhat? Where is the dumpster and the apricot tree?β
I loved that apricot tree and was heartbroken when they cut it down. The big pine tree was sad too, but at least it was dying.
Nice that they will actually fix a problem for all of you!! π
Yes. π
Brilliant! Now I’m starting to understand.
π
Improvements are always welcome but they make you wonder sometimes why things weren’t thought out better in the first place. How you had to get to the laundry room sounds just plain wrong from the get go.
We lived with it for 50 years so it wasn’t too bad.
Progress! Slow but moving ahead.
π
good changes
π
At least some progress is good!
π
Something so little to others can mean so much.
Yes. π
Another “new, improved” that actually is! Yay!
For our own “new, improved” we have a totally new parking lot. It even has two EV charging stations. The construction of Building #5 is pretty much done so they replaced the damage to the lots done by all the heavy trucks coming and going during construction. The first new residents are scheduled to move in October 1st.
How many people in your whole complex? I’m glad they fixed the damage and added the EV stations.
It is really nice and wide! Would you believe we do not even have a curb? Our grass goes right out to the road.
That’s interesting!
Very cool! Your management sounds a lot better than the one BootsandBraids has to deal with.
I hadn’t heard of her so looked her up. You’re right, that doesn’t sound like much fun!
…some changes are worth the wait.
Yes. π
Looks like they have some good plans and what they have already done looks like it will sure make things easier. Hopefully the job will be finished before Winter sets in.
I’m guessing it will, they have plenty of time.
