Andy seldom phones our landline from up on the land — he usually sends texts or email messages. Fortunately he broke that pattern Monday. He tried phoning our landline twice using his cellphone but got the message,
Sorry, you cannot leave a message for [phone number]….
He told me about it yesterday and I had the same problem when I tried with my cellphone. Then I checked our landline and nothing, no dial tone. So I contacted our provider and they’ll send someone today to see what’s wrong. We’re surprised because we had our long weekly chat Sunday evening with Kaitlin and had no problem at all.
The interesting thing is our internet, which relies on a lot of wires run in my study, works just fine. And our wall phone in our living room, which is connected straight from the wire entering our apartment, doesn’t.
So we’re pretty sure the problem is somewhere outside the apartment. Anyway, bless Andy for trying to phone yesterday, Otherwise it could have been a week — when we tried to phone Kaitlin again — before we knew there was a problem.

Glad he tried to call on the landline. Rarely does anyone call our landline, but boy do we get plenty of spam calls on our cell phones. Hopefully this can get fixed… SOON!
That’s crazy! Usually, land lines are so steady — not unlike the homely-but-dependable saddle shoes we once wore.
I haven’t had a landline for 15 years! Mark just brought up last evening that he’s glad not to hear that ring anymore. Hopefully it’s an easy fix.
Made me wonder about the workmen taking out old stairs and putting in the new ones hitting the line? Hope you find out soon. I got rid of my landline when I moved to my last apartment. I actually have missed hearing that ring.
So great that he did call. Let me know what the problem is. We have the same wall phone!!! That is strange, because almost no one has them anymore. Ours is beige colored and on the kitchen wall. One of our granddaughters once walked up to it and asked what it is. She had never seen one before…
We haven’t had a land line for years. But, I have my cell phone set to ring just like a “real” phone. I had it set to something else when it was new but I didn’t recognize that sound as being my phone so I didn’t answer the call from our daughter. Oops!
I hope they solve the problem quickly!

That is a good thing that he tried to call. I haven’t had a landline in a very long time.
we have landline, but they are not like the landline when that phone was first here, it goes and comes with the internet, if we lose internet the landline goes to and it happened yesterday. both were gone for about 3 hours. the landline is what I hear best on and its only 17 a month in our package of cable/internet/phone. bob doesn’t do phones of any kind and we need a back up phone, glad he tryed and found the issue
