Spending a little bit of time on Spanish each day, and having fun in the process, is working just fine. I’m gradually recognizing a few more words, which is an added treat. The real reward is it reinforces the idea that patience, persistence, and enjoying the process can be the super powers of a happy life.

At least that works for me. What works for you?

That is an impressive streak. Way to go

  3. MadSnapper says:

I think enjoying the process is the most important thing about learning something you just want to learn but not necessarily on things you need to learn. both of these are hilarious and fun

…for 35 years I had Mexican workers at my nursery and my Spanish is still lousy!

  5. Shug says:

I am so proud of you and for you for learning Spanish. My husband has had legal hispanic employees for years and he taught himself to speak the language. Of course, some of them had different dialects and this added to challenge. I think that enjoying what you are doing is a huge aspect of learning. And then there is the patience and persistence.

Uh-oh, that Garfield toon’s found me right where I am.
I’d be hard-pressed to think of anything better than your own philosophy!

  7. Ginny Hartzler says:

Hot coffee and reading! I love the Calvin & Hobbes one!

  8. Good for you, that’s wonderful!

  9. I liked those two jokes – my son and his family are trying to learn Spanish I am going to copy and paste.
