About Saturday’s get-together: The wife of the fellow who helped us after the first flash flood in 2011 said she would like to gather some pictures of what the the area looked like before the fire. So I sent her the link to this Flickr album of pictures Andy took as he was driving home.
The flames in the pictures were moving up towards our house.
The pictures do show how beautiful the area was before all the trees burned.

I imagine you would need to be in a good mood before creating a mood board. Otherwise you could end up with a totally wrong look.
Those pictures are excellent. Sad to see all that burning though.

…flash floods and fires seem to be a strange combination.
It’s a classic combination. An intense wildfire bakes the soil so any rain for years afterwards will just run off. That causes dangerous flash flooding and erosion.

We just had a fire not too far away from us. We saw it from the backyard. Thankfully they got it put out.

It’s a lot more bare now, and we try to keep it that way because of the ongoing fire danger.
This is so frightening. Last night we watched the movie about that nurse Nichole Jolly “Faith In The Flames”. It is a true story about how she survived the 2018 Camp fire in Paradise Cal. While saving other people.
