Well, That Was Interesting!

I mentioned that my doctor’s appointment went well last Thursday. It was actually with a temporary PA instead of my regular doctor, who is super busy. It was a good conversation and I liked him, but when the visit summary was posted a lot of it was clearly about another patient. If some of the symptoms mentioned weren’t enough of a clue, the fact that it says I have a history of prostate cancer clinched it.

I used their portal to ask them to correct the mistakes and will see if they respond. I have my annual physical October 27, so I can bring it up again. I did point out that inaccurate medical histories could be dangerous in the long run.

They are having trouble getting people and are probably using AI to lighten the load, but the system is still slightly less than perfect.

Hi Jean, oh my goodness! I am so glad you alerted them of the errors!!! Inaccurate medical histories can indeed be dangerous. AI does make mistakes…even we humans make mistakes and nothing is perfect, but really, when it comes to health and safety especially, it needs to be addressed and corrected! Good on you for doing this, dear friend.
Your annual physical is on October 27th! I will be 70 on that day!
I hope everything goes well for you.
Thank you so much for sharing this, I am sure that this will help many people to watch out for these errors.

Oh my word. Nothing like going into your portal and reading that you have prostate cancer. I hope they make the correction. Just imagine how dangerous an error like that could be.

Still laughing that they used your pronouns about prostate cancer.

As the Baby Boomers age, the medical system is over stranded!

That’s terrible and stressful to have to chase up

  6. Yes, that can be dangerous having wrong diagnoses on your medical chart! I hope they get it cleared up quickly.

Would you believe that this has happened to me 2 times in the past month. One of Sam’s doctors, his wife had a stroke….On Sam’s summary report, it states that the patient’s (being Sam) wife had a stroke and that this is causing him to regress in his health due to having to take care of her.
The next report was from his lung doctor saying that (me..my name) a 72 year old female has hepatocellular carcinoma and that (she) reports pain in her right lung area.
I contacted them and asked that this be changed immediately. So STRANGE

That’s scary! I recently saw a doctor who sent me for the wrong treatment. I won’t be going back to see her. She reminded me of the joke, “What do you call someone who graduates at the bottom of her class? Doctor.”

Good grief! And I think this is also something that definitely breaks some kind of serious rule. It’s really awful that there is such a shortage of all kinds of healthcare providers! It is so hard to get appointments, especially with specialists. We have had to wait about three months to see an E.N.T. doctor!

This is seriously scary! Indeed, we have to be our own advocates.
