It Stopped Raining

It’s nice to see the sun, but I liked the rainy days we just had. The Forest Service sign up in the mountains now says the fire danger is only moderate rather than high, and the drought map looks better.

This is what the map looked like two weeks ago:

And this is what it looks now:

I should point out that the rain wasn’t all positive. In some places it came down faster than the soil could absorb it, so there was dangerous flash flooding.

At any rate, for better or worse, it looks as if it’s over for a while.

That’s great news. On the other hand fast heavy rain on parched land does that…it does that here.

That’s a big change in the drought conditions and fire danger

I saw photos of flooding and it was scary. That is encouraging they the drought is finally (at least for now) moving in the right direction. Great maps! I am so curious to see what this winter brings.

  4. Christine says:

    Glad you got some rain

We had rain yesterday, but like in your area, the rain was falling so heavily, that much of it ran off. Thankfully, we do not live in a flood area. I know it’s good to see that the exceptional drought areas have now changed.
