Sometimes All You Can Do Is Laugh

Girl sitting on Santa’s lap: “Do the ones on the naughty list really get a lump of coal in their stocking?”

Santa: “Oh no…they get a bailout…”

Those were the lines in a recent editorial cartoon by Jimmy Margulies (11/27/08). Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

    bikehikebabe,
My family’s vision of Santa was like that too. I wonder if that’s true of everyone.

    Evan,
Unfortunately you would have to be “too big to fail”.

What a joke! Fantastic. I intend using it widely. Thank you.

  6. That sure is a way to bring reality into a fictional story. The bailouts are on the back of the minds of the majority of people in the US, mostly as they wonder if they were swindled or assisted. Uncertainty leaves a topic processing in our minds.
