More Choices

As I mentioned before, we’ve chosen the sink in the above picture. But that isn’t the faucet we picked. For that I thought we had decided on this one, with a separate water control on the side:

And Dahl’s thought we had chosen this one:

At first I thought this one looked even stranger than most, but now I’m thinking it might be less obtrusive and more convenient.

Have you had any experience with modern faucets? Do you have any opinions? Or are you just glad you don’t have to spend any time thinking about subjects like this? 😀

Have you had to make any decisions lately?

Thanks to Mike, Cathy, bikehikebabe, Looney and Rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

Not really. I prefer being able to get warm water out of one tap rather than separate taps for hot and cold.

I wash my hair in the kitchen sink. The drain basket catches the loose hair. I can’t see to turn off the water. I can feel where the water is coming from, but I have to fumble around to find the control for turning it off. Would be better for me if the two were together.

Simpler is better. That tall arched look will go out of style & look stupid later.

I haven’t ever even thought about modern faucets but I would go with last one as I guess the “tap/metal hose” swivels so it will be easier to find the other bit (must be called something…) and also it will be right there rather than get tangled up with something else that might be on the bench at the same time

Probably making no sense what I’m saying but if you could see my tiny weeny bench you would understand what I mean about other things on said bench

oops I think you call them counter-tops…

    Evan,
Here in the apartment we have separate handles for hot and cold, and I think the new design will be a lot nicer.

    bikehikebabe,
I agree about simpler being better, and that the new fancy designs are apt to go out of style. The faucet heads are attached to a hose that extends My guess is that will be more convenient, too.

    Cathy,
Yes, I think I do know what you’re talking about. And the handle on top should be out of the way.

I’m glad I took a picture of it so I can get used to the looks. Pocket-sized digital cameras are a godsend. I need to remember to use mine when we go looking at more floor coverings next week. I’m glad that things have slowed down so we can do our thinking/decision making a little bit at a time.

In all our bathrooms and the kitchen, I have installed what are known here as mixers. One lets out hot water and the other cold and the correct turning on of both knobs, regulates the temperature of the outflow. They are all simple to use and nothing fancy, just functional.

Decisions, decisions decisions! Yes Jean, I am constantly being asked to make decisions. The list is endless!

  6. Jean says:

    Rummuser,
We’re pleased that we too will be getting a mixer. 🙂

Yes, those decisions keep coming and coming.

  7. It’s great to get your home improvements done, isn’t it? In spite of the related stress and problems, it’s always good.

    Maria,
Yes, it’s a big project and we’ll do our best. Then when it’s done we’ll be glad it’s over. 🙂
