After those several storms the end of fall and first few days of winter, we’ve had sunny, above-freezing weather the past couple of weeks. It’s easy to see that some of the snow has melted. Maybe the forecast of a warmer, drier winter will be true after all. Who knows? I’m not about to bet on anything to do with the weather, except that it’s unpredictable. What about you?

Thanks to Evan, Cathy, bikehikebabe, Maria and Rummuser for commenting on last week’s post.

High in the mid 60s for us today, with maybe a cooldown to a more seasonable mid 40s by Monday. After that, all bets are off. πŸ˜‰

  2. Well I don’t know about less snow. I see plenty of it there.

Very beautiful pictures. I enjoyed looking at them. I love the colour of the sky in this.

“…weather, except that it’s unpredictable. What about you?”

Yes, I’m unpredictable. I can’t predict myself. I change my mind often.

Tim and I greatly appreciate seeing pictures of our tiny cabin while we have run away from the cold weather to a sunny beach.
Our cabin project only has about 1/10th of the complexity of Jean’s and even that was plenty for us.

    bhb: LOL

Jean: everything has been topsy turvy here since mid winter – when snow fell in the City…it never snows in Auckland! Our summer has now been linked to La Nina and Wet. I thought La Nina meant it would be drier! I don’t understand the boffins ideals at all…

It is so changeable from say daylight to dusk with a range of weather stretching past us during the day. It was supposed to be raining yesterday and it looked it a bit when I hang out of the washing but then it turned into a glorious summers day! And I took in dry washing around 5pm (after I got from a day out in the City)

this morning…was okay at 7am, not dull…but now less than 30mins later it’s definitely going to be a dull, damp one!!!!

    Mike,
Temperatures in the 60’s are definitely high. Our mid-40’s are above normal for this time of year . It is supposed to cool down a bit Sunday and Monday, then come back up to the 40’s.

    Maria,
There’s still plenty of snow, but some of it has melted. Notice especially the snow on the roof.

I agree about the pictures, Andy gets the credit for them.

    Beate,
Aren’t digital cameras and the internet great? I enjoy Andy’s snow pictures from our cozy apartment.

You and Tim have put plenty of effort into your place. We’re doing a lot of research and spending time making decisions, but it’s more spread out than what you did this summer.

    bikehikebabe,
Great interpretation. I too have given up trying to predict my own behavior. πŸ˜€

    Cathy,
La Nina is supposed to mean that we too will be drier, but now they’re saying the effect won’t be as great as they first thought. We’re still in a drought and they think this year might be another bad fire season. Presumably that doesn’t apply to those of us in the treeless areas. πŸ˜€

At times our weather can be variable too. The saying is, “If you don’t like the weather wait five minutes and it will change.”

  7. Evan says:

Weather here has improved from continually overcast at last, thank goodness. Some warm and sunny weather.

  8. Rummuser says:

Nice comfortable weather here Jean. Nights are cold, around 7 degrees C and days maxing around 23 degrees. Having fun!

  9. Jean says:

    Evan,
Sunshine helps a lot, doesn’t it? That’s one of the things I love about Los Alamos. We get a lot of sun in the winter.

    Rummuser,
Sounds great. I’m happy for you. πŸ™‚
