They’ve been painting the columns and crosspieces and started finishing the chimney. The chimney looks a bit funny from a distance now, but it should provide for our stovepipe and all of our vents:

But hopefully the cabinets will be installed in a couple of weeks and he’ll be back in business.

We thought the chimney would cover all of the pipes and we liked the way it looked. I told Andy the present version looks like a major consequence of lack of plans. Apparently the vents sticking up are because of the code. If so, why did the chimney have to be so high? I think the whole thing looks hideous now. It’s pretty clear it’s too late to change it now, but Andy says he’ll ask the architect about it so he doesn’t do something like this again, assuming there’s not a sound technical reason for doing it.

Andy did tell them the stovepipe is too high and that it will need to have lightning protection. Presumably they will work on that next week.

everything trundling along in a good way here…nothing startling as in new, other a new batch of foodstuffs in the fridge and cupboards! Which probably are now deemed old since they are no longer at the grocery store 🙂
I’m always thinking ahead of ideas that are “new to me” in the art-mark/making world. So I have a whole load of bits lined up to be something next week. I might get started tomorrow (Sunday).
But also I want to finish refurbishing the summer vegetable patch – I tipped over one of the compost bins but still need to deal with a couple of litres of decomposed stuff onto the other bed…I ran out of energy! Weekends are when my energy needs minding 🙂

Last week was eventful. Visiting guests, eating out, shopping, meeting old friends, a very pleasant surprise about which I have blogged and best of all, since Ranjan was away on vacation, I was all alone at home for the first time ever since we moved in 22 years ago. It was a totally new experience. I leave on a three day trip to visit some relatives and friends in New Bombay and am looking forward to it.
Last week was eventful. Visiting guests, eating out, shopping, meeting old friends, a very pleasant surprise about which I have blogged and best of all, since Ranjan was away on vacation, I was all alone at home for the first time ever since we moved in 22 years ago. It was a totally new experience. I leave on a three day trip tomorrow, to visit some relatives and friends in New Bombay and am looking forward to it.
